Trainee position, embedded systems

By 2030, more than one million tons of waste will be generated worldwide from Li-ion batteries alone. Lithium-ion batteries are used in electric vehicles, electronic devices, and energy storage. Today, the solution for handling waste is crushing, which requires energy, significant investments, and complex logistics and is often unprofitable without waste fees. There must be another solution to this! Fortunately, one has already been developed at the University of Tampere.  

CeLLife Technologies Ltd is a pioneering deep technology startup specializing in advanced diagnostics, measurement, and quality control for the battery industry. CeLLife has the fastest and most accurate diagnostic technology for measuring, selecting, and balancing new or used battery cells on an industrial scale.

We are looking for enthusiastic new trainee to join our fast moving and energetic product development team at CeLLife Technologies.  

You are: 

  • BSc or MSc (or equivalent) student in a technical university or school of applied sciences 
  • Willing to work part time after trainee period while you finalize your studies 
  • Interested in working in and committing to a startup company 
  • Urge to solve climate crisis and help transformation toward carbon clean future 
  • Comfortable executing small programming projects using AVR and ARM-based microcontrollers 
  • Understanding how to read datasheets of MCUs and ICs 
  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility of small development and research tasks 
  • You actively keep rest of the team updated on your progress and challenges 
  • Knowhow to go beyond introductory tools, such as Arduino IDE, to actual bit twiddling 
  • Familiar with setting up required toolchains  
  • Solid reporting skills, making readme files and user manuals 
  • Experience using Github or other similar platform 
  • Understanding of interconnected embedded systems and common communications protocols, such as I2C and SPI 
  • Understanding of external IC peripherals such as ADC, DAC, memory, displays 
  • Configuring and communicating with peripherals via e.g. I2C 
  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout design and related software, such as Altium, Eagle or Kicad is seen as an advantage
