Head of BESS at LBS Group and Former Northvolt Lead Sean Stephenson Joins CeLLife as Senior Advisor Partner.

CeLLife is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Stephenson—current Head of BESS at LBS Group and a former lead at Northvolt’s Gigafactory—as a Senior Advisor Partner. With deep experience across the global battery storage value chain, Sean brings world-class expertise in diagnostics, technology development, and lifecycle optimization.
At Northvolt, Sean spent over five years in a pivotal, all-encompassing role supporting the Gigafactory project from inception to scale. He led the development of advanced cell inspection technologies and helped operationalize high-throughput inspection labs, playing a critical role in ensuring quality and efficiency in one of Europe’s most high-profile battery manufacturing efforts.
Sean now leads global BESS strategy and deployment at LBS Group, a leading EPC with a rapidly expanding portfolio of large-scale energy storage projects worldwide. His responsibilities also include supporting long-term operations and maintenance—an area where CeLLife’s diagnostic capabilities can drive meaningful impact.
In his new advisory role, Sean will support CeLLife as it brings its next-generation diagnostic platform to market. Built around proprietary electrical fingerprinting technology, CeLLife’s solution enables scalable, non-invasive insights into battery health and performance across the entire lifecycle.
“I’m excited to support CeLLife as a Senior Advisor,” said Sean Stephenson. “Their technology delivers unique value across the battery lifecycle and aligns closely with emerging battery passport legislation. There’s currently no truly scalable solution for cell or battery diagnostics—yet quality varies significantly, posing real risks to safety, performance, and warranties. I’ve seen the potential of CeLLife’s technology firsthand. It provides diagnostic intelligence and grading accuracy beyond what current methods offer, with the scalability to transform how batteries are measured and qualified. This role also complements my work at LBS Group, where we not only develop and finance large-scale BESS projects globally, but also provide long-term O&M services—an area where CeLLife’s capabilities will be especially valuable.”
Sean’s career also includes his early work at Centrica, where he helped pioneer energy management systems and some of the UK’s first BESS deployments.
His appointment marks a significant milestone in CeLLife’s mission to deliver transformative battery intelligence at global scale.
